>Conjunctivitis is a common eye disease that may be caused by excessive eye strain or infections due virus or bacteria. Due to conjunctivitis the eyes turn pink and hence the problem is often called pink eyes. This causes irritation and soreness in the eyes.
Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious disease and it is treatable. The human body itself takes measures to cure the pink eyes. Since the soreness causes pain, many home treatments are suggested and they also found to be very effective.
Viral pink eye is very common and is characterized by watering eyes and light discharge in one eye. Bacterial pink eye is similar to viral pink eye in the exception that there is heavy discharge. Allergen pink eye causes both eyes to be pink or red with tearing, no discharge and sometimes affecting the nose.
Colloidal Silver ? You can buy colloidal silver in a spray bottle. Spray into your eyes two to three times a day. You can also put one or two drops of colloidal silver in your eyes two or three times a day if you can?t find a spray bottle. Colloidal silver has been known to cure pink eye as quickly as six hours. Be sure to use a few days after healing to be safe.
Sea Salt ? Put a teaspoon of sea salt in one cup warm water and stir until dissolved. You can use an eye dropper and put two to three drops of the saline solution you have created directly into your eye or you can use a cotton ball. Saturate the cotton ball and place it on your eye allowing the water to run into your eye. This is a tried and true remedy that has been used for many years and is still a staple in England.
Apple juice: Apple juice is recommended for blepharitis-infection of the eyelids-which may be asso?ciated with conjunctivitis or come on its own accord. Peel off a two inch slice of apple, bend in half with the skin sides together till the juice appears, then press on the eye lids gently. The redness goes and so does the pus ? not completely but it is kept in check if done several times a day. This is one of my best home remedies for conjunctivitis.
Once in a day, prepare a poultice with grated raw red potato and grated apple and place it on the closed eyes. Leave it for almost half an hour and within couple of days or at the most three days the ailment will completely vanish.
Make chamomile tea, keep it in fridge or cool it at room temperature, then use it to wash eyes two times in a day until the infection gets cure.
Zinc is an important cofactor for vitamin A. When there is a zinc deficiency, the immune system does not produce as many white blood cells to fight infection, and the ?clean-up? of damaged tissues in the conjunctiva of the eye is slowed.
A dosage of 30 mg a day should be enough to reverse any deficiency, and you do not have to take zinc supplements indefinitely. Anytime a zinc ?pill? begins to taste bad, stop taking it. This is a signal your body has accumulated enough zinc to overcome deficiency. If zinc pills are tasteless, your body may be zinc-deficient.
