Jacksonville, Fla.; March 20, 2012 ? 121 Financial Credit Union donated six computer servers to the School of Computing, Engineering & Construction at the University of North Florida (UNF), announced Larry Rouse, 121 Financial?s Information Technology Manager.
121 Financial delivered six dual-process, rackable servers, valued at approximately $10,000, to the college to support student training in the area of virtualization, a method that utilizes the hosting of multi-servers on one machine in order to save on electrical costs.
??Virtualization is a cost saving system that we are incorporating at 121 Financial,? Rouse explained. In the process of instituting virtualization, we realized we had extra servers we could donate. So we asked around to the area colleges. That?s when UNF said their college was interested in extending their curriculum to include the virtualization process and would like to have the hardware for the program. And we were happy to provide this opportunity to the school and their students.?
