If you're like me, you've been using image editors for more than a decade, but haven't really understood what the hue, saturation and luminosity settings are, preferring to adjust via the red/blue/green sliders. No more! Digital Inspiration found this easy description on the Tech Museum.
We might use hue to tell the difference between ripe bananas and ones that aren't so ripe. Or, we might use saturation to help us tell the difference between your glass of chocolate milk and the chocolate milk for your friend. Brightness can help us tell the difference between bread and toast, especially burnt toast.
That helps a bit, but the video above actually shows what it's like moving the sliders around, with an explanation of what each does. Knowing what these three values are will allow you to make more informed adjustments in your images.
