Assistant Professor, Communication with Spec in Radio, Film ...

The Division of Communication Arts and Humanities at Keystone College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of
Communication with specializations in radio, digital media/film and emerging technologies to begin Fall 2013. Qualified applicants should
hold a Ph.D in Communication with emphasis in the preferred specializations or in closely related disciplines such as social, digital, and
emerging media. Applicants who are ABD within one year of completion or who have another appropriate terminal degree at the time of
appointment will also be considered.

A demonstrable ability to teach undergraduate courses to majors and non-majors is required. The successful applicant will exhibit a willingness to mentor undergraduate research projects, and will have the opportunity to develop new courses in his/her areas of interest. Experience with online teaching and learning is a plus.

Teaching assignments may include: Interpersonal Communication, Professional Speech, Media and Society, Technopersonal Communication, Communication Theory, Small Group Communication, Communication Ethics, Intercultural Communication, Conflict Management, Communication Research Methods (quantitative and qualitative approaches), Film Analysis under a variety of Special Topics, and Radio Station Management. The successful applicant will advise the College's radio station (WKCV), student staff and station manager, and take a coordinating and leadership role in maintaining the station's FCC compliance. Responsibilities also include acting act as a liaison between the Division and the adjunct faculty/professional staff who teach and operate the College's state-of-the-art digital media labs.

The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarship; service to the College; a strong commitment to advising; and, mentorship of students, including research involving undergraduates is expected. The successful candidate will have a well-developed or emerging research agenda.

In addition, the successful candidate must show evidence of the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated. All full-time faculty at Keystone College serve as academic advisers and on Division and College committees.

Keystone College is a private, co-educational college where emphasis is on undergraduate education, and growing importance is placed on faculty-mentored student research projects. The Division of Communication Arts and Humanities strives to maintain a personalized, student-centered approach to teaching and a collaborative approach to productive undergraduate research.
