Leyann Mercer, 28, Killed in Fatal Head-on La Quinta Crash

LA QUINTA, California ? Leyann Mercer, 28, of La Quinta was killed and three others were injured in a two-car crash Sunday night on Avenue 50 at Park Avenue, according to a press release issued by CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters.

Mercer was driving a Kia Spectra when she allegedly lost control of the vehicle and veered into opposing traffic where she was struck by another driver in a Nissan Altima. She died at the scene of the head-on car crash.

Paramedics responding to the scene of the crash transported a woman and two minor children in the Nissan to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The person who died in the crash was the driver of one of the vehicles and was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The fatal crash is being investigated by police to determine whether either driver was at fault in the crash.

?Traffic accidents can cause serious long-term injuries that require ongoing medical care, lost time off work and possible permanent injuries,? said Attorney West Seegmiller, founder of a Riverside personal injury law firm. ?Victims of car crashes need to protect their rights immediately after a crash to ensure they are compensated for their losses and damages.?
