First Reform Church Holds Marriage Rally on Father?s Day After Sunday Services ? Human Rights Campaign | HRC Back Story
On Sunday, members of the faith community all across the Empire State gathered to show their strong support for full marriage rights for all New Yorkers.? Parishioners throughout the state, including Rochester, Buffalo, the Capital Region, Long Island, and Staten Island, came together this Father?s Day after Sunday services in solidarity for marriage for all loving New York couples.
In Hudson, Pastor James Eastland of the First Reformed Church invited parishioners and citizens to write letters and make phone calls to our New York Senators to urge them that the time to pass marriage is now and show that there is strong support for the marriage bill amongst the faith community. Various supporters were on hand, such as gay best friends Charlie Ferrusi and Timothy Howard, who made global news in 2010 when they were crowned Hudson High Prom King and Queen.? Also in attendance were Linda Mussmann and Claudia Bruce, the first couple to be married by the mayor of Hudson once the marriage bill passes.
The faith rally took place during Hudson Family Pride Day, a free street festival in celebration of LGBT families and allies of Columbia County and beyond.
